Coffee For One

My husband traveled for work and I hated the mornings when he was away.

He was the first one up–Bright eyed and bushy tailed.  He’d turn on all the lights, turn on the tv or music (whatever he was in the mood for), wake up the kids and press the button on the coffee machine. When he was away, I tried to do all that, but mornings have never been a strength of mine. I’d text him first thing in the morning:

“Coffee for one 😢☕️.”

I make coffee for one everyday now.  The coffee machine is located next to the fridge and his obituary is stuck to it with some dumb inspirational magnet.

It wasn’t our plan, but, I continue to make coffee for one.  There are some coffee splatters on the obituary now, but I kind of like it that way, for he could barely get through the day without spilling a little something on his shirt.
